More than just a festival, it’s a high-energy, two-day experience filled with music, dance, food, and vibrant cultural expression—right in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District.

What Is Carnaval San Francisco?
Every May, for two days, 17 blocks along Harrison Street (from 16th to 24th) are transformed into a colorful global stage. Here's what you can expect:

💃 Dancing, costumes, art exhibits, a vibrant marketplace, and so much more
Since its founding, Carnaval has welcomed legendary performers like Celia Cruz, SANTANA, Tito Puente, Oscar de León, and Los Tigres del Norte.
2025 Theme: Afro Mundo
This year’s theme, "Afro Mundo", honors the deep and powerful influence of the African diaspora across the Americas. It’s a celebration of strength, resilience, music, and art that connects continents.
African rhythms, once used for long-distance communication, now pulse through modern music genres—from samba to funk to reggae—shaping the global soundscape.
The Grand Parade – The Heart of Carnaval
One of the most spectacular highlights is the 20-block Grand Parade, featuring over 60 cultural and dance groups:
Brazilian samba schools in dazzling costumes
Caribbean beats from Cuba, Jamaica, and Trinidad
Traditional dances from Mexico, Bolivia, Guatemala, and more
African drummers, giant puppets, and folkloric performers
📍 Parade route: Starts at 24th & Bryant → west on Mission Street → north to 15th Street → ends at South Van Ness.
