If there’s one night that captures the small-town heart of Marin, it’s Halloween in Fairfax. Every October 31, costumed kids and grown-ups gather downtown for the town’s beloved Halloween Parade, winding down Broadway toward Bolinas Park and its Haunted Grove. It’s free, festive, and the kind of neighborly tradition that makes this corner of Central Marin feel like home.
The Fairfax Chamber of Commerce sponsors the parade, while the Town of Fairfax Parks & Recreation Commission hosts the gathering in the redwood grove at Bolinas Park. Costume-contest winners are announced in the park around 6 p.m., just as the light begins to fade through the redwoods.
What to Expect
The parade starts near the Fairfax Theatre and makes its way down Broadway toward Bolinas Park. Along the route, downtown shop owners hand out treats, while the Chamber gives parade-goers neon glow necklaces. The celebration continues among the redwoods in the “Haunted Grove.”
The costume contest includes prizes for best family, best boys’, best girls’, and most creative costumes.
